Seating of the Parents

Seating of the Parents:

The Seating of the Parents is the first action of the Ceremony. It is the point when the mood and volume of the music will change from "background music". Therefore, the song that accompanies the Seating of the Parents is also the song that signals the start of the Ceremony to the Guests. When the song accompaniment begins, at a somewhat higher volume than the music which preceded the Ceremony, the first Parent or Parents will begin "walking down the aisle" toward the front of the Ceremony area. Lighting the taper candles or Preparing the Unity Sand is part of the Seating of the Parents. Therefore, the Mothers of the Bride and Groom, or designated members of the Bride and or Groom's family which have been chosen, walk down first. When the Mother or designated family member from each family reaches the front of the Ceremony area, they will proceed forward and either light the taper candles or prepare the Unity Sand. They will then return to the front row and take their seats, which concludes the Seating of the Parents.
